Paul D. Kermicle

Paul D. Kermicle, 87, of Olney, Illinois, died on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital. Paul was born on January 22, 1934 in Richland County, IL, the son of Gerald Kermicle and Dessie (Kesler). Later he married Carolyn Semple on December 30, 1956 in Mt. Gilead Church, and she survives.

Paul was very passionate about farming, family, friends, and his faith. He started farming with his Dad after returning home from the Army in 1958 and farmed for over 40 years. He loved every minute of his work and always said to find something you love doing and you will never work a day in your life. Paul was recognized by Prairie Farmer Magazine as a Master Farmer in 1976. Paul was an amazing Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and friend to everyone he met. He truly cared about people and wrote countless handwritten notes over the years. After his retirement from farming, he loved working in his garden and delivered sweet corn and other vegetables to his friends and family every summer for many years. Paul was also very active in the community. He was one of the original board members of Olney Central College, was President of the local school board, and was a founding member of Faith Bible Church. Finally, he was very passionate about his faith and shared it with everyone he met over many years and more recently to his doctors and nurses during these last few months.

Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Kermicle; son, John Kermicle and wife Tineke of Olney, IL; daughter, Ruth Brazitis and husband Gary of Noblesville, IN; son, David Kermicle and wife Tammy of Dundas, IL; grandchildren, Taylor (Emily) Kermicle, Kate (Matt) Jones, Madalyn (Mitchell) Schonert, Nicholas Brazitis, Michael Brazitis, Christina Kermicle, Keith (Chelsea) Kermicle, and Kevin Kermicle; great grandchildren, Brayden Paul, Rowen, Myles, Bode, and Maelyn; brother, Jerry Kermicle of Madison, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Vivian Kermicle.

A visitation for Paul will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. Interment will follow the service at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont, Illinois.

So sorry for the families loss he was a great neighbor and a friend. May the Lord bless and comfort all the family.
