Nancy G. (Sparr)Taylor, age 88 of Mattoon, IL passed away Monday August 5, 2024, at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mattoon, IL. Nancy was born on November 1, 1935, in Olney, IL to the late Edward G. and Nancy E. (Gillespie) Sparr. She married G. Warren Taylor on December 26, 1965, in Arthur, IL; he preceded her in death on December 29, 2010.

She is survived by four children: Keith D. Menke of Mattoon, IL, Andrea L. Buell and husband Doug of Charleston, IL, Guy W. Taylor and wife Robin of St. Peters, MO, Curt L. Taylor and wife Tammy of Oakland, IL; seven grandchildren: Amber N. King and husband Jared of Charleston, IL, Jordan L. Taylor and wife Rachel of Tuscola, IL, Seth T. Buell of Charleston, IL, Zachary P., Nicholas C., Sydney P. and Samantha G. Taylor all of St. Peters, MO; six great-grandchildren: Alec T. Woodall of Mattoon, IL, Abigale E. Woodall of Charleston, IL, Bayleigh L., James C., and Jace R. Taylor all of Tuscola, IL, Julian Taylor of St. Peters, MO, ; one great-great grandchild, Emersyn Woodall of Mattoon, IL; one sister-in-law, Linda Oye; nieces and nephews: Phyllis Cummins, Jerry Quick and wife Frances, Devra Johnson, David Quick and wife Polly.

She is preceded in death by one stepson, Rodney D. Taylor, three sisters: Anna Lee Quick, Mary Ellen Sparr, and Wilma Jean Sparr.

Nancy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL. She retired as a programmer from Blaw Knox in Mattoon, IL after more than thirty dedicated years. An avid reader, she possessed an extensive library including numerous fiction books which were her preferred literary genre. Talented at playing Bridge, Nancy achieved the Life Master level as a Duplicate Bridge player. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Warren and her co-workers throughout the United States. She had a natural instinct for navigation and could drive across the country without the assistance of a GPS or technology.

Blessed with a large family and many friends, Nancy cherished her loved ones and embraced each relationship. She also had a special bond with her beloved pets.

Nancy will be deeply missed but the warm and precious memories of her will live forever in the hearts of her family.
