Carl W. Roark

Carl W. Roark Jr., 77, of rural Sumner, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at his residence after a brief illness with esophageal cancer.

He was born July 7, 1935, near Bicknell, Ind., the son of Carl W. Roark Sr. and Jessie M. (White) Roark. On Aug. 13, 1961, he married Betty Sartor and she survives.

He was a farmer and rural mail carrier, a carpenter and a bus driver for the Unit 10 school district. He was a member of the Prairieton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading and gardening. He handcrafted Dulcimers and other stringed instruments and also enjoyed all kinds of woodworking.

Also surviving are a daughter, Carla Jo Roark of rural Sumner; daughter, Mary Ann Lane of Olney; a son, Carl Roark and his wife, Donna, of Dundas; and grandchildren, Joseph and Matthew Lane, and Emma, Abigail and Sara Roark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Rita Jill Roark.

The funeral was held at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial at the Sumner Cemetery.
