Catherine E. (Hahn) Combs, 89, of Richland County, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital. Cathy was born July 12th, 1933, in Olney IL, daughter of Bertha (Iaggi) and Otto Hahn. On October 4, 1953, she married M.W. “Bill” Combs, who preceded her in death in 2014.

Cathy was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She retired from the Dietary Department of Richland Memorial Hospital, and volunteered many years for the hospital auxiliary and Home Health. Cathy lived to serve others. Her doors were always open, and everyone felt welcome in her home. She sewed countless quilts for family, friends, and charities, and made over 50 warm comforters for the homeless. Her family meant the world to her. She loved decorating her home for Christmas, spending time with friends & relatives, making puzzles, and playing dice and board games.

Cathy is survived by her sisters: Phyllis Rusk, and Patty Roland; brothers-in-law: Paul Rusk, Huey Brummitt, and Ron Buckland; her children: Debra, Douglas (Terri), and Jean (Rex) Henry; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandson and one on the way, plus numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years, sisters: Jane, Marge, Sylvia, and Celestine; brothers-in-law: Al Piercefield, Dean McCann, and Leon Hough; niece, Kim Brummitt, and nephews, Bill Newton & Jim Zerkle.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. The cremains will be placed at Liberty Cemetery, Wakefield, IL.
