
George R. O'Brien, 63, of Bunker Hill, Illinois died Thursday May 22, 1997 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. Services at Landers Funeral Home in Bunker Hill with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial in Bunker Hill Cemetery.
O'Brien was born May 15, 1934 in Claremont, the son of Russell T. and Mabel (Ernest) O'Brien. He married Ruth Mitchell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Okinawa and was a truck driver for BW Trucking, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Bunker Hill American Legion Partridge Post.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Donald R. O'Brien of Benld, George R. O'Brien of Bunker Hill and Michael R. O'Brien of Flora; two daughters, Carolyn Woody of Bethalto and Marilyn Ament of Bunker Hill; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas O"Brien of Olney and William G. O'Brien of San Padras, Ca.; and one sister, Colleen Hawkins of White Sands, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
