Mary Edna Herman (Brian)

Mary "Edna" (Herman) Brian, 86, of Olney, died on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN. Edna was born on August 15, 1934 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Otto and Elizabeth (Muhs) Herman. She married Donald Brian on May 10, 1956 in Olney, IL, and he survives.

Edna retired from Trust Bank where she worked as a bookkeeper. Edna had a passion for crocheting but also enjoyed quilting, gardening, cross-stitching, and participating in car shows. Edna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she had a strong Catholic faith and volunteered for many church activities as well as volunteering at Good Samaritan. Edna loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If she could, she would attend as many of their activities as possible. 

Edna is survived by her husband, Donald Brian of Olney; sons, Jerry (Cindy) Brian of Terre Haute, IN, Jim (Cheryl) Brian of Effingham, IL and Kevin (Patty) Brian of Olney, IL; grandchildren, Kelli Brian of Terre Haute, IN, Anthony (Sarah) Brian of New Harmony, IN, Gary (Kaylin) Brian of Vincennes, IN, Justin (Shiana) Brian of Olney, IL, Bridget Brian (Wesley Eagleson) of Indianapolis, IN and Kristen Brian of Olney, IL; great grandchildren, Aliyah, Samuel, Easton, and Zaylee. 

She is also survived by her siblings, Paul Herman of Gaylord, MI, Ruth Rzeppa of Algonac, MI, Dolores Francis of Bloomington, IN, Freda (Richard) Miller of Rochester, IL, and Frank (Janet) Herman of Xenia, IL, and 42 nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Theresa Chaplin and Lucille Bigard; brothers, Bernard Herman and George Herman.

A Visitation will be held for friends and family of Edna on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney.

Memorials can be made to the St. Joseph Foundation Trust.
