Attended U. of I. 1955-59 (majors in journalism and English); spent '59 to '60 playing in bands around Olney; attended Eastern Illinois University from 60 to 63 graduating with a B.S. in Ed. (major in communications); taught English at Nobel (West Richland High School) '63-67: Played in a traveling band on the west coast) '68-'69; taught communications, journalism, and English at Warrensburg-Latham High School (12 miles northwest of Decatur, IL) '69-'94. Retired May of '94. Worked with Project Read '94-'97 teaching English as a Second Language at Richland Community College (Decatur). Worked at a community radio station '98-'01 doing morning and mid-day show. Continued being a "Weekend Warrior" (playing in bands) until 2006. In June of 2010, I lost my wife (Joy Morgan Main) to breast cancer. She was just one month short of a ten-year survival. Now am a "man of leisure" doing pretty much as I please (except for mandatory cardio-pulmonary rehab three days a week.
