William G. Mackey, 73, of Taylorville, IL died at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 12, 1939 in Olney, IL the son of William T. and Neva Esther Hickel Mackey. On June 1, 1985 he married Karen McKinney in Taylorville.

Bill was the former owner of Sherman’s Department Stores in Taylorville, Benton and Hillsboro, and was employed at Trinity Motors as the used car manager and finance manager. He was affiliated with the Taylorville Christian Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Heather Anderson Dempsey of Springfield and son, Mark Anderson and wife Jodi of Waverly; grandchildren, Rachel Dempsey, Brandon Dempsey, Noah Anderson, McKenna Anderson, Blayton Orris and Kallie Howerton.

Graveside services held at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL.
