Loretta Sue Battles (Geiwitz)

Loretta “Sue” (Battles) Geiwitz went to heaven Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at the beautiful age of 82. Sue is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lewis Geiwitz; her son, John Geiwitz and his fiancé Trisha Bailey; her granddaughters, Amber Michelle Cailteux, Shawna Sue Cailteux and Verbal Lynn Cailteux; her best friend on this earth, Jo Ann Hibray, who selflessly helped care for her until the end; her stepsons, Robert Geiwitz, William Geiwitz, and David Geiwitz and his wife, Donna; her brother, Joey Battles and his wife Judy; and her brother-in-law, Mike Dana.

Also, she will be terribly missed by nieces, nephews, friends, and the nurses, aides, and residents of The Neighborhood Rio Rancho.

Sue was probably first greeted in heaven her two sons, Tony and Joseph Cailteux, her sisters Bonnie and Patsy, her Mom and Dad.

Sue was a lover of books, Christmas, the sitcoms MASH & Frasier, anything with the color blue and sparkly, margaritas, and posole. She was a brilliant writer, editor and singer. Her signature fragrance was Chanel, and her all-occasion lipstick was Revlon’s “Wine with Everything.”

Sue was born on December 31st, 1936, in Arkansas. She had her first son, Tony, in Albuquerque, during a move to California with her first husband, Earl. They never made it to California and made Albuquerque their home. She raised her three sons then graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. Sue and Louie, a human psychologist with a Ph.D., had a counseling practice for many years.

A Celebration of Life Reception for Sue Geiwitz will be held Friday, October 18, 2019, from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside.
