Jane Louise Bateman, 83, of Flora, formerly of Olney, died on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Helia Healthcare in Olney.  Jane was born on April 6, 1936 in Olney, IL, the daughter of William “Bill” and Blondeana (Worrell) Houser.

Jane married Wayne Bateman on December 4, 1954 and had two children, Rachelle Louise and Stephen Wayne. She moved to Flora in 1982 and worked for Credit Thrift and later worked at Flora Savings Bank. Jane enjoyed music, dancing, and bowling. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, First Baptist Church, and later the First United Methodist Church. Jane loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her dogs.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Shelley Steber of Olney; son, Steve Bateman of Olney; grandchildren, Sherri Bateman of Atlanta, GA; Jessica (Josh) Gilliam of Houston, TX; Danny (Diana) Steber of Amsterdam, NY; and Marcus Bateman of CA; several great grandchildren; brother, Bill Houser of Flora; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pat Barche and Marianne Houser; and special friend, Ernie Sutherland.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.
