Ara Lee Caughey, 54, of Pontiac, Illinois died August 24, 1997 at her residence.  Cremation rites were accorded.

Memorials may be made to the National Cancer Institute.

Caughey was born, March 14, 1943 in Olney, the daughter of Edward J. and Clarissa Brown Barnes. She married Robert Caughey January 30, 1965 in Urbana.

She worked at Von Maur in Bloomington from 1991-95 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Pontiac Bible Church, Livingston County Home Economist, Pike Home Extension and 20th Century Literary Club in Pontiac. She attended Olney grade and high school and was involved in music programs in school and church and cheerleading in Olney. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in home economics.

She is survived by her parents of Pontiac; husband; one son, Shannon D. Caughey and his wife Cathleen of Highwend; three daughters, Lorilee Dunahee and her husband, Alan of Minonk, Wendy L. Bogar and her husband, Tim of Houston, Texas and Christi C. Caughey of Pontiac; one brother, Sid Barnes of Wilton, N.H.; one sister, Ellen Stierwalt of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. and three grandchildren.
