Jackie D. Brooks, 75, of Flora, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at Flora Gardens Nursing Home in Flora.  Jackie suffered the last several years of his life from dementia and Alzheimer's.  As per Jackie's request, there will be no memorial services at this time.

Mr. Brooks was born April 6, 1940, at home, near Bogota in Jasper County, the son of Delbert and Claretta (Childers) Brooks.

Jackie will be remembered by many for his accomplishments in the horse industry: World Quarter Horse Show awards, barrel racing, pole bending, rodeo, horse trading, and farrier for many near and far. He worked in area auto body shops before retiring. In younger years, he was in the National Guard.

He will be greatly missed by his loving partner, Barbara J. Fyffe; her daughter, Michal Hendy; and granddaughter, Bayli Brown. He is survived by a daughter, Tracy Fulk, of Noble, and a son, Tony Brooks.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents.
