Myron Ochs - Class Of 1962 VIEW PROFILE

CHAMPAIGN - Myron H. Ochs, 66, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1944, in Stringtown, Ill., a son of Frank and Alice Ochs. He married Dixie Neil on June 8, 1968; she died on Sept. 13, 1994. He married Jean Niemann on Dec. 21, 1997; she survives.

Also surviving are his son, David (Connie) of Everett, Wash., and daughter, Sheila (Jason) Weber of Rantoul; his four grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hannah Ochs and Emma and Gus Weber; his brothers, Gerald (Theresa) and Norman (Linda) Ochs of Olney, Eugene (Margaret) Ochs of Milford and Galen (Patty) Ochs of Arthur; and his sister, Donna (Larry) Keyser of Cisne.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dixie, his parents and one sister, Theresa.

Myron was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Champaign. He taught special education, industrial arts and computer technology at Champaign Central High School for 35 years. Upon retirement from public education, he applied his energies and talents to painting, repairing and building homes, apartments and special projects for family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working in his garden, where he produced and shared many vegetables, gooseberries and horseradishes, and most recently making wine and limoncello.

Funeral services at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olney. Burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Olney. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or an organization of the donor's choice.
