Ronald L. Nelson, 79, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on November 23, 2022, at Nelson Lutheran Community Home. He was born on October 10, 1943, to the late Clinton and Lyle Dorf Nelson. On December 17, 1967, at First United Methodist Church in Seymour, he married the love of his life, the late Sue Wright Nelson.

He is survived by his son, Michael Nelson; one daughter, Amy (Shawn) Blankenship; three grandchildren, Mikaela (Carl) Morgan, Rachael (fiancé Jeremy Rose) Nelson, and Erin Nelson; three great grandchildren, Isaac, Nathan, and Jaxon Morgan; and one niece, Melanie Nelson

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Wright Nelson; his parents, Clinton Nelson and Lyle Dorf Nelson; one grandson, Tristan Logan Blankenship; and one brother, Rick Nelson.

Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War in Korea.

Ronald was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seymour and a member of the Jackson County Lodge No. 146 F. & A.M. He was also a Scoutmaster for Troop 529 at his church for many years. Throughout the years he coached softball, baseball, basketball and refereed high school and middle school basketball. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, and traveling to all fifty states.

Visitation will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Thursday December 1, 2022, from 10-12 Noon.  A Masonic tribute will begin at 12PM, followed by a funeral service with Rev. Teresa Poole and Mr. Paul Schaeffer officiating.  Burial will follow service at Riverview Cemetery.
