Barbara Jo Kapper, 69, Crane, Mo., formerly of Olney, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, in Springfield, Mo.  A graveside service held at St. Joseph Cemetery with Pastor Paul Goss officiating.  Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kapper was born on February 20,1944, in Chicago Heights, Ind., the daughter of Millard and Edith Marie (Stout) Likens. She was married to Melvin Kapper and he preceded in her in death on November 27,1991.

Barbara grew up in Olney and graduated from East Richland High School and then attended X-ray school in St. Louis.  She worked at Richland Memorial Hospital as an X-ray tech and Ultra Stenographer for many years before retiring to Reeds Spring, Mo.

Barbara enjoyed traveling, especially to the Caribbean or Florida. She took delight in gardening and being outdoors. She loved nature and animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Desiree Kapper-Williams and her husband, Jeff, of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Bonnie Barnes and her husband, Bill, of Crane, Mo.; sister-in-law, Jo Aiken and her husband, Bruce, of Memphis, Tenn.; and sister-in-law, Karen Rowland and her husband, Jim, of Pontoon Beach.

Mrs. Kapper was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric Kapper; and sister, Betty Likens.
