Lois Fisher (Eckiss)

Lois (Fisher) Eckiss, 78, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital. Lois was born December 19, 1943 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Norvon and Vena (Shipley) Fisher. She married Richard Eckiss on August 20, 1961, and he survives.

Lois worked for many years in the oil field researching mineral rites for several companies and individuals. She was the "go-to" person for title services in many counties. Lois was also a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. 

Lois was very active in her church, First Church of Olney, where she played piano and sang. She had a passion for rescuing animals and ensuring that they were placed in a safe and loving home. Although Lois will be missed by many, God has a new Angel.

Lois is survived by her husband of 61 years; Richard Eckiss; daughter, Charlotte Prieur of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughter, Kathy (Tom) Hixon of Claremont, Illinois; sister, Beth VanMatre; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, David and Bradley Eckiss; brother, John Clifton "J.C." Fisher; sister, Karon McVaigh and daughter-in-law, Barbara Eckiss.

A walk-through visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at First Church of Olney located at 1401 N Silver St in Olney, just across from the ball fields at Musgrove Park. The family of Lois requests casual dress.

Condolences to Lois’s family!  We were both in mixed chorus in high school and often found ourselves singing together in small group ensembles.  Lois was an easy person to be around and an excellent musician to boot!
