Roberta “Bertie” Violet Holstrum, 80, of Olney, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.  Bertie was born on July 23, 1942 in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of Chester and Ruth (Jackson) Holstrum.

Bertie was the head librarian at the Olney Public Library but had also worked previously as a file clerk at Food Machinery Company in Hoopston, IL. She enjoyed reading and collecting a specific type of glass, Fenton, especially the cat figurines. Bertie also took pleasure in crocheting, quilting, and weaving. Bertie loved spending time with family and hosting get-togethers at her home. She always had an open room for family members to drop in anytime.

Bertie was also a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as well as the church’s Quilting Guild.

Bertie is survived by her brother, James (Becky) Holstrum of Olney; brother-in-law, Marshel Poff; 3 nieces and 4 nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth Ann Childers and Janice Poff.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Crest Haven Memorial Park inside of Hope Chapel, with a visitation beginning thirty minutes before service time in the chapel. Burial will follow the service.
