Crash Claims Lives of Two Olney Women

Olney – An accident at 7:49 p.m. Saturday, December 26th, claimed the lives of DeAnn Richardson, 48 and Judy L. Jourdan, 69, both of Olney, reports Illinois State Police District 12.

According to the accident report, Michael W. Mattox, 60 of Dundas, was westbound on West North Avenue approaching South West Street driving a black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, when he proceeded through the intersection, ran off the roadway on the northwest corner and struck the outdoor patio portion of the Deuce’s Wild Saloon, located on 433 S. West Street, striking Richardson and Jourdan where they were standing.

Richardson and Jourdan were pronounced dead at the scene by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation by the Olney Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police.

Mattox received minor injuries and was treated at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital. He was arrested and held in the Richland County Jail on charges of aggravated driving under the influence, no valid driver’s license and improper lane usage. He is now listed in the jail log as being held on charges of first-degree murder.

Judy Lynn (Clark) Jourdan, 69, of Olney, died on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Judy was born on July 17, 1951 in Olney, the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (Slover) Long.

She was an avid reader and loved her dog, Benji. She loved western TV shows, especially Gunsmoke.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Amy Lydle, of Olney; son, Tommy Rottinghaus, Jr. of Olney; fiance, John Gilbert; brother, Roger Clark and Darlene, of Parkersburg, Illinois; grandsons, Kyle and Cory Hemrich, Andrew Rottinghaus; granddaughters, Kelcy Rottinghaus and Marissa Rottinghaus; great granddaughter, Haisley Hemrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Cremation Rites were accorded.
