
David H. Ellison (Dave as most knew him), 76, of Urbana, Illinois, passed away at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 13, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Cremation rights have been accorded and there will be a private family service at a later date.
Dave was born Jan. 27, 1944 in Piper City, Illinois to parents William (Bill) and Shirley (Leach) Ellison. He attended Richland High School in Olney, Illinois and then proudly served in the United States Air Force. He later earned his associate degree and had a long career as an engineer for the local phone company in Rantoul, Illinois.
Dave was a longtime resident of Thomasboro, Illinois, where he raised his family. He was an active member of the community serving as an EMT and volunteer fireman for many years. He also coached his son and others in summer baseball. Dave was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting anything from deer to mushrooms. He loved country music and played guitar on his own and with friends for many years.
Dave was a member of the American Legion Post 71 and Amvets Post 3 in Champaign, Illinois. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of the Kamikaze Pool Team and played 1-2 times a week. Dave and his significant other Pam would go to church together every Sunday online at the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. Dave loved God and his country. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, life mate and friend. He was a loving man who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his significant other, Pam Lukemire of Urbana; his daughter Michelle (Randy) Carlson of Gifford, Illinois; son Bret (Jitka) Ellison of Westville, Illinois; grandchildren Christopher, Andrew, Chase and Kayla; great grandchildren Brantley, Braelynn and Brynnlee; special niece, Heather Roth-Smith who shared his birthday. Also surviving are Dave’s brothers, Danny and Frank Ellison; his sisters Kay Wagner, Vicki Kennedy, Nora Stout and Brenda Ginder.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Steve Ellison.
