John Daniel “Danny” Bigard, of West Liberty, IL passed away in his home on June 12, 2020 at 7:44 pm at the age of 71. 

Dan was born in McLeansboro, IL April 3, 1949, a son of Florent and Maxine (Brookfield) Bigard.  He married Thelma Jo Bigard on January 29, 1971 in the Methodist Church at West Liberty, IL. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Marines with an honorable discharge. He was a life-long auto mechanic.  He was heavily involved in the VFW and 40/8.  He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter/fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry D. Bigard, Florent Joseph Bigard, Jr; and brother, Joseph Maxey and sister, Angela Neil.

Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Thelma Jo Bigard of West Liberty, IL, son, Sean (Angela) Bigard of Weldon Springs, MO; daughter, Amy Nicole Bigard of Santa Cruz, CA; two granddaughters Katelyn Joanna and Chloe Rae; sister, Kathy (Jerry) Bigard-Curry of Magnolia, TX and brother, Elmer Brookfield of Effingham, IL

Memorials may be given to Disabled American Veterans.

The family of Dan Bigard wishes to extend our sincere thanks to VA Clinic in Effingham and Lincolnland Hospice in Mattoon, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery in Newton with Gary Wachtel officiating.  Family and close friends are invited. Full military rites will be performed by the Olney VFW Organization.
