June L. (Crum) Scherer, 94, of Olney, died on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

June was born on June 1, 1926 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond Crum and Ethel (Phillips).  She married Herman L. Scherer on August 16, 1944, and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2005.

June worked at Montgomery Ward in Olney for many years as a salesclerk. She also worked on the family farm helping with the raising of livestock, gardening, and cutting wood. She especially enjoyed spending time working in the garden. June was an excellent cook and was known for her homemade bread, rolls, and ice cream. June and her husband, Herman, took pleasure in the simple things of life. Their family and their faith in the Lord were very important to them. June was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

June is survived by her son, Harvey Scherer and his wife, Bonnie of Olney; two daughters, Vivian Shan and her husband, Wayne of Olney and Marsha Neavill and her significant other, Jim Sorger of Washington, MO; grandchildren, Kristy (Shane) Casey, Brad (Sascha) Scherer, Brian (Angela) Scherer, Autumn (Brandon) Carrillo, Kevin (Leslie) Shan, Karla (Stephen) Orr, Madeline (Kurt) Brinker, and Briana Neavill; twelve great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way; and nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Hubert Scherer; two brothers, Eugene Crum and Donald Crum; and one sister, Anna Mae Nease.

A Funeral Service will be held for June at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Fritschle-Scherer Cemetery.
