Rodney Colwell, 61, of Olney, passed away August 15, 2020 at his home. He was born on May 23, 1959 in Olney, Illinois son of James Marion Colwell and Alice Lee (Burgin) Brooks.

Rodney was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, and enjoyed helping out at their fish frys, when he was able. He collected knives, and he liked helping others. Rodney loved to joke and to laugh with his friends. Rodney has fought a long battle with COPD, which kept him from doing many of the things that he loved, such as fishing. He also was good at fixing things. Rodney enjoyed cooking, and was very good at it. Rodney especially loved his dog, Speedy, and sharing Snickers bars with her. Rodney will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Rodney is survived by his son, Jonathan Colwell and his wife, Rachel; Daughter, Jessica Colwell; Grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma Colwell, Emily and Brantley Oquendo; Sister, Julie Foerster and her friend, Tony Lord; Brother, Victor Colwell and his friend, Sissy Barche; Several nieces and nephews, and Great-Nieces and Great-Nephew, and several aunts and uncles. Rodney is also survived by his beloved dog, Speedy.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Funeral Service will be held for Rodney at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a Visitation beginning at 9:30 AM that morning before the service. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the service. Interment at Crest Haven Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
