Eugenia Jeanie Brooks (Cantwell)

Eugenia "Jeanie" (Brooks) Cantwell, 87, of Olney, died on August 19, 2020 at Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Olney, Illinois. Eugenia "Jeanie" Cantwell was born September 05, 1932 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Alva and Edna Lavana (Winans) Brooks. She married William Cantwell on August 11, 1951, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2001.

Jeanie graduated from Olney High School, Class of 1950. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed having family gathered around her kitchen table. She loved to play bridge and enjoyed watching sports on TV as she was a fan of the Cubs and the Bears. She was a poet and often wrote poetry to her family members to mark significant occasions. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Olney and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Pi Lambda sorority. In recent years she found pleasure in singing along with her favorite gospel hymns. The family is sincerely thankful for the caring staff at Lavender Ridge who have become like family to her in her last years.

Jeanie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Alice Cantwell of Moore Park, CA; son, Jim Cantwell of Evansville, IN; son, Michael Cantwell and his wife Desiree of Vincennes, IN; son, Tom Cantwell and his wife Chris of Clermont, FL; daughter, Catherine McClintic of Palmetto, FL; daughter, Christine Corn and her husband Brian of Palmetto, FL; grandchildren, Christopher (Cathleen) Cantwell, Elizabeth (Jared) Hare, Andrew (Heather) Cantwell, Thomas Cantwell, Jimmy Cantwell, Nathan (Olivia) Cantwell, Timothy (Michelle) Cantwell, Gretchen (Justin) Waninger, Dylan Haskins, Drew (Megan) Cantwell, Kyle Cantwell, Sarah McClintic, Connor McClintic, Ryan McClintic, Lauren McClintic, Will Corn, and Hannah Corn; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Bob Brooks of Olney; sister, Mary Stewart of Lynden, WA, and several nieces and nephews.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Bill Cantwell; and nine siblings: Charles Brooks, Evelyn Burgener, Florence Skinner, Mabel Black- Holt, Alva Brooks Jr., Walter Brooks, Mildred Head, Bill Brooks, and Kenneth Brooks.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Carle Center for Philanthropy Hospice – Richland.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held for Jeanie at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. Interment will be at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont.
