Steven Lee Jones

Steven Lee Jones, 79, of Clay City, formerly of Olney, died November 10, 2020 at his home.

Steve was born June 29, 1941 in Olney, Illinois to Harrison Jones and Rosa (Bunting). Later he married June Chaffin on September 30, 1961 in Clay City and she survives.

Steve retired from Champion Labs after 34 years. Steve was a craftsman, fourth-generation basket maker, almost an Eagle Scout. He loved to rabbit hunt and build furniture. He loved his family to no end, and he was extremely close to his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Jones; son, Anthony "Tony" Jones of West Salem; daughter, Becky (Von) Miller of Olney; grandchildren, Morgan Miller, Anna (Eric) Weber, Emily (Travis) Troyer, and Lauren Lomas; great grandchildren, Conner,Hank, Guage, Frankie, Brynn, Reese, Lucy, Stella, Peyton, and one on the way; siblings, Tim Jones, Janice Kern, and Loretta Mitchell; sister-in-laws, Sue Chaffin, Carmen Green-Chaffin, Sandra Chaffin, and Janet Jones, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harrison Jones, Jr., Alice Jones, Kendall Jones, Juanita Slunaker, and infant brother, Michael Jones; brother-in-laws, Chuck Chaffin and Herb Chaffin; infant grandson, Lucas Heckler.

A Graveside Service for Steve will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1:30 PM in the Clay City Cemetery, with interment following immediately after.

Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, the Graveside Service will be private for family members.
