Johnine Lee (Callahan)

Johnine (Lee) Callahan, age 80, of Allendale, Michigan passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 after a prolonged battle with cancer, with family by her side. Johnine was born March 4, 1940 in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late John and Addine (Stuckey) Lee.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant son, Shuan M. Callahan and sister, Delores Stuckey.

Johnine attended Eastern Illinois University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree, continued her education at Western Michigan University earning her Master’s Degree and earned her PhD from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green Ohio.

Johnine retired as the Director of the Frederik Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University where she was employed for 25 years. She was an active member of the Marne United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Johnine is survived by her loving husband Orel Callahan; son, Patrick (Michelle) Callahan; grandchildren, Christian Callahan and Fiancé Serenity Thompson, Sara (Nathan) Westenberg, Jacob Eisen and Jessica Callahan; brother-in-law, Hubert McQueen.

In keeping with Johnine’s wish, a private family interment was held at Allendale Twp. Cemetery. In memory of Johnine memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
