Linda Schonert (Baker)

Linda Lou (Schonert) Baker, 84, of Olney, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at her home. Linda was born on August 28, 1936 in Richland County, IL, the daughter of Clifford Earl Schonert and Edna Catherine (Kaltrider). She married Harold Gene Baker on April 16, 1954, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2004.

Linda was a lifelong farmer and conservationist at heart. She also worked in retail for many years throughout her life. Linda had a deep passion for gardening, landscaping, and land and wildlife conservation. She passed this passion down to her family.

Linda loved and respected all animals and nature. Several of her beloved pets, including her dog, Foxy, are awaiting her at the Rainbow Bridge.

Linda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Olney. She was also a member of the Audubon Society and enjoyed participating in the spring and winter bird counts each year. Linda will be deeply missed by her family and many close friends.

Linda is survived by her son, Gary (Sylvia) Baker of McCamey, TX; son, Steve (Donna) Baker of Alphretta, GA; daughter, Debbie (Mike Shipman) Burnett of Olney; grandchildren, Mark Baker, Cody (Alyssa) Burnett, Oliver Burnett, Laurel Baker, and Austin Baker; great grandchildren, Rylee Baker, Olivia Baker, and Logan Baker; cousins, Jerry Diel and his family and Judy Stratton and her family. She is also survived by her treasured cat, Tippy, who will live on with Linda's family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A private Memorial Service will be held for Linda at 10:00 AM on October 8, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Olney, with Reverend Pam Laing and Reverend David A. McNabb officiating. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life ceremony held at Linda’s home with her friends and family.

Interment will take place after the service at Liberty Lawn Cemetery in Olney.
