Marshall Everett Dodson was born on November 26, 1929, in Olney Illinois, to parents William Marshall Dodson and Anna Mae Cambron, the middle child of three children.

Going straight from High School, Bud enlisted in the Army, serving from 1946 to 1950 as a Corporal, beginning his enlistment training as a Military Policeman in Vienna, Austria.  Due to a shortage of Supply personnel, he was sent to supply school training in Germany and returned to Vienna as a Supply Sergeant.  Becoming ill in April 1947 he went into the 110th Station Hospital in Vienna and was sent to Aurora, Colorado, Fitzsimons Army Hospital for further treatment.

Upon being discharged from Fitzsimons he returned to active duty as a Military Policeman, MP Detachment I 5610 ASU.   On May 5, 1950, Bud was discharged.  Bud had various jobs over his lifetime:  Using his GI Bill, he schooled 6 months at the Western Radio and TV Institute; but switched to spending the next 3 years learning to be an auto mechanic.  Using his auto mechanic training his lifetime work was in the cement trucking industry. Eventually he owned Atwood Truck Lines, a cement hauling company.  Before he retired, his last position was as a real estate agent, selling homes in the Denver Metro area.

He married Juanita Harvey, July 8, 1948, living most of their 22 years in Westminster and raising a family of 5 children.   He entered the world of politics, beginning his 10 years in politics as a Westminster City Councilman, elected in 1963 for a 2-year term.  In 1965 he won a 4-year term and was elected Mayor of Westminster.  He was the first Mayor to win two consecutive terms.   1969 to 1971 he served as Mayor Pro tem.

In December 1970 Bud married Nora Katherina Findley.  They were married 9 years, residing in the Westminster area.

May 24, 1984, Bud and Gail Thomson Wendland married, having met when Bud was a real estate agent.  In Bud’s retirement, he and Gail worked as customer service agents at Bronco football and Rockies baseball games at the Mile High Stadium and at various venues at the Pepsi Center.   As volunteers they went to Houston when the Broncos played in Super Bowl XXXVIII.

As well as living in Colorado off and on during their 35 years of marriage, Bud and Gail lived in 7 different states before finally settling in Georgetown, Texas.  They lived in:  Destin, Florida; Florence, Oregon; Anacortes, Washington State; Camarillo, California; Newbury Park, California; Henderson, Nevada; and Olney, Illinois where Bud had grown up.

While living in Destin, Florida, Bud and Gail purchased a 32-foot sailboat and began their love of sailing.   Being adventuresome, they traveled round trip up the coast from Anacortes to Alaska.  Their boat was sold before their last move back to Colorado.

Due to Bud’s medical diagnosis of COPD, Georgetown, Texas, was chosen as his and Gail’s last home since Texas has a warm climate and low elevation.
