Leon Hough (P. E. /Dr. Ed. 1976-1989)

Leon "Coach" Hough, 78, of Jasper, Indiana, formerly of Olney, passed away Jan. 1, 2022 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born Feb. 26, 1943 in Olney, the son of Bernard and Helen (Martin) Hough.

Leon was a member of the Catholic Church, which he joined prior to his marriage to Celestine Hough in 1962.

Leon was a 1961 graduate of Richland County High School, Illinois State College and McKendree College. Leon enjoyed his career being a teacher, principal and coach of basketball, baseball, and football for many years. In addition to being remembered as a coach, he will also be remembered by many as their driver education instructor.

Leon loved his Burger King Mondays with his granddaughter, Whitney and always wanted to be outdoors with his great granddaughters hiking or taking long walks. He was a lover of sports and NASCAR and sprint car racing. He would travel many miles with his son and daughter to watch the races and to watch his nieces and nephews play soccer, football or run track.

Leon is survived by his daughter, Jolie Beehn, and son, Tony Hough, both of Jasper; granddaughter, Whitney (Chris) Hacker of New York; great-granddaughters Ava and Aurora Hacker also of New York; brother Kerry Hough and family, of Peoria; and many nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 53 years, Celestine (Hahn) Hough.

Cremation rights have been accorded.
