Clarise Garrett (Long)

Clarise Long, 63, of Olney, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at her residence.  She was born on May 22, 1955 in Marietta, OH, the daughter of James Floyd and Edwyna (Cook) Garrett.  She married Paul Long on July 29, 1974 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olney.  He survives.

Clarise loved nature and enjoyed feeding squirrels and birds. She took pleasure in fishing and camping alongside her husband, Paul. They camped at the Little Wabash and the Embarras. Clarise was the only female member of the Sons of American Legion in Olney. She was also in the Women's Legion Auxiliary. Clarise loved cooking, puzzles, painting, and plants. She was a social person and enjoyed having drinks with friends. Clarise worked at the Little Farm Market, Foxwood Manufacturing, and at Illini Wire Works.

Clarise is survived by her husband of 44 years, Paul Long of Olney; twin sister, Denise Shultz of Olney; brother, Mike Given; brother, Dennis Given; sister, Bea Camara; sister, Peg Fye; brother, Jimmy Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Debbie Geier and Donna Balding; and beloved dog, Rylee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rosemary Kuhl and brother, Carl Garrett.

Memorials can be made to the family or Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.

Cremation Rites were accorded.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with a visitation beginning one hour prior.
