Willard Pauley Class of 47Willard "Wid" Pauley Jr., 87, of Olney, passed away from this life at Helia Healthcare center on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Funeral services at Olney Southern Baptist Church with burial at Crest Haven Cemetery east of Olney.

Wid was born on October 17, 1929, in Olney, the only child of Willard Pauley Sr. and India (Wilson) Pauley. He married Elfreda Pottorff on January 31, 1958.

Wid served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He played in the Army band on Okinawa. He played the baritone horn in the Olney City Band for nearly 50 years. He loved the game of golf and was a member of the Richland County Country Club. He accomplished his goal of playing golf in all of the 48 contiguous states. Wid was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan and endured much teasing from his friends who are St. Louis Cardinals fans.

Wid worked at the Olney Trust Bank for 32-1/2 years and then part time at Diel's Greenhouse for 12 years. Wid was a member of the Olney Southern Baptist Church where he served as song leader and deacon for many years.

Wid is survived by his wife Elfreda; daughter, Lisa Minich of Robbinsville, NJ; son, Wayne (Donita) Pauley and grandson Brandon Pauley of Richmond, IN; sister-in-law, Ruthann (Rod) Cross of Clio, MI; sister-in-law, Marjorie (Dennis) Ulsomer of Chesterfield, MO; brother-in-law Gilbert (Gayla) Pottorff of Cambria, IL; nieces and nephew, and many faithful, loving Christian friends.

Wid was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Douglas Minich.
