Eugene Zuber

Eugene (Gene) Joseph Zuber 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 8:10 p.m.

Gene was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Olney, IL, the son of Cletus Frank and Agnes Marie (Weiler) Zuber. A 1966 graduate of East Richland High School, Gene was an Army veretan, serving in Vietnam during 1968-1969. He worked as an accomplished carpenter for 33 years, as well as enjoying the nine years of employment at Fizzle Flat Farm in Yale, IL.

Gene was the devoted husband of Rita (Robb) Mewes, since Jan. 4, 1997. He was previously married to Catherine (Patterson) Vandegraft of Bloomington, IL. Gene was a member of Elm Street Christian Church.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille Marie Rosinski.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Scott (Tonya) Zuber, and granddaughter, Joslyn, of Ingraham, IL; daughter, Gwen Wilson, and granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Marisa, of rural Noble, IL; stepson, Derek Mewes, of Strongville, OH; stepson, Drew Mewes, of Evansville, IN; sister, Charlene Mott, of Loda, IL; brother, Alvin (Carol) Zuber, of Olney, IL; an uncle, Bernard Zuber; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Terri (Tom) Kitchene and Mrs. Leesa (Bill) Parker, all of Mocksville, NC.

Services at Elm Street Christian Church, in Olney. Full military rites performed by Olney Veterans organizations, at the church. Private interment of ashes in Crest Haven Memorial Park at a later date.
