Clark N. Pool - Class Of 1932

Clark N. Pool, 55, St. Francisville Postmaster since 1940 and native of Richland County, died Wednesday noon (December 24, 1969) at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital at Lawrenceville, where he had been a patient for two weeks.  Funeral services at the St. Francisville Christian Church with Brother Roger James in charge. Interment at Shiloh Cemetery northwest of Berryville. Military rites conferred at the graveside. (Illinois ~ TEC5 6 Base Post Office ~ WW II)

Mr. Pool was born August 11, 1914 at Berryville, Richland County, son of the late Lee and Amy Sanders Pool. He lived in Olney and Calhoun as a youth and graduated from Olney Township High School in 1932, and attended Illinois College at Jacksonville for two years. He taught rural schools in Richland and Lawrence Counties and was appointed postmaster at St. Francisville in 1940.

He was married to Anna Lee Lathrop of Berryville and they are the parents of three children: Larry Joe Pool of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Walter (Bonnie) Jones of Greenview, and Miss Peggy Pool, who is a student for the doctoral degree in Lansing, Mich. There are five grandchildren. Three brothers, Franklin Pool of Mesa, Arizona, L.D. (Don) Pool of Olney and Marshall Pool of Bay City, Michigan and a sister, Mrs. Gene (Edith) Boley of Vandalia, also survive.

The deceased was active in civic affairs in St. Francisville and Lawrence County. He was an active member of the Christian Church in St. Francisville.
