Donovan J. Jackson - Class Of 1950

SGT. DONOVAN JACKSON KILLED IN ACTION IN KOREA~

Mrs. Imogene Jackson of 521 S. Lexington street has received word from the New York Port of Embarkation that the body of her husband, M-Sgt. Donovan J. Jackson, will arrive in Olney on Friday, August 28, via the Baltimore and Ohio railroad at 1:33 p.m.

M-Sgt. Jackson was killed by enemy action in Korea on June 12, 1953.

Besides his wife, the former Imogene Merkle, Olney, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Jackson of Olney and four sisters, Mrs. Floella Wright of Olney, Mrs. June Schlehuber of Carmi, Mrs. Janice Blair and Fontella Jackson both of Olney.

M-Sgt. Jackson was a member of Headquarters Company, 1st Bn., 5th Infantry Reg. He entered the army from high school on March 1, 1948 and had been in Korea since January 1953.

Services at Summers-Wilson Funeral Home with interment in the Macedonia cemetery, west of West Salem.  The Veterans Organizations of Olney and West Salem will meet the body upon its arrival in Olney and act as the honor escort to the Funeral Home. They will also render the last rites.
