James O. 'Jim" Kurtz, 72, of Olney, died Saturday, December 16, 2006, at his home. Funeral services at Stasi-Grove Funeral Home with Rev. Don Watson officiating. The Richland County Veterans Organization will conduct full military honors at the graveside. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery in rural Richland County.

Mr. Kurtz was born August 20, 1934, in Richland County, the son of Leslie and Jane (Ritter) Kurtz. He married Geneva Stoltz on November 15, 1959, at Allendale Christian Church in Allendale. In addition to being a farmer, he was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Richland County. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving stateside from 1956-1959. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Geneva Kurtz, of Olney; sons, Robert Kurtz, and his wife, Misty, of Newton, and Dale Kurtz, and his wife, Deena, of Mt. Carmel; daughters; Shirley Kurtz, of Morris, and Carolyn Kurtz, of Morris; brothers, Vernon Kurtz, of Mt. Erie, and George Kurtz, and his wife, Ada, of Olney; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Kashtyn Kurtz, of Newton.

Mr. Kurtz was preceded in death by his parents.
