Robert Byrne

Robert Allan Byrne, 93, of Olney died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at Olney Care Center in Olney.

Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Reverend Bruce Rushing officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Byrne was born on July 18, 1907, in Olney, the son of  Walter D. and Blanche Byrne. 

He was a member of the Olney Township High School, Class of 1926.  He was a star football player who played on the all-stars 1925 team, the team that never lost!  He is shown below in the front, left (holding the sign near the letter 'c').   When a senior, his classmates voted him the most handsome.

 

 

He was married over 35 years to Eva Williams and they had two daughters, Margory Lee,deceased, and Sally Rynard of Olathe, Ks., ERHS, class of 1958.

Besides his daughter, Sally, he is survived by two grandchildren,Marjorie Witsken and Scott Tennis and five great grandchildren. 

He married Dileen Shull in March 1979, deceased.  He was preceded in death by his parents.


As a young adult he started his own dairy business.  At that time many people kept their own cows. He would go house to house picking up extra milk.  

Besides being a successful Realtor and involved in other activities, he was President of the Olney Fair Board for many years.

Later in life, he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney, a member of Elks, American Legion, Scottish Rite, 50 year member of Masonic Lodge and Shrine Ainad Temple and was a World War II Army veteran.
