James Robert Thomason

James Robert Thomason, 73, of Ruidoso, New Mexico, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2002 in a hospital in El Paso, Texas. He was born on October 8, 1928 in Olney, the son of James D. and Marie (Fisher) Thomason.

Mr. Thomason married Wanda B. Padgett in July 1949 in Olney. She survives.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer III. He was also retired from El Paso Natural Gas Company after 15 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners organization. He was also a member of VFW Post #1815.

Mr. Thomason is survived by his wife, Wanda Thomason, of Ruidoso, N.M.; a daughter, Brenda Kay Jones and her husband, Don of Big Spring, Texas; a son, James Robert Thomason Jr. of Austin, Texas; a sister Mitzi Sanders and her husband, Doug of Olney; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a nephew, John Eric Wingert of Olney.

Services at Martin Funeral Home in El Paso, Texas.  Graveside services with full military rites at Fort Bliss National cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Marie Thomason, an infant son, David Ray and his parents-in-law, Victor and Beatrice Padgett all of Olney.
