Bernard Carl Franklin Class of 1946Bernard "Bernie" Franklin, 88, of Olney, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Richland Memorial Hospital-Inpatient.

Funeral services held at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. Burial with full military rites in Crest Haven Memorial Park in rural Claremont.

Mr. Franklin was born April 12, 1928, in Dundas, the son of Carl and Lillian (Haskell) Franklin. He married Geraldine Massie on December 1, 1951, at Mt. Gilead Church. She survives.

Bernie was the youngest of nine children. He was a lifelong farmer, a gardener, and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of the DAV, Eagles, Elks, 40 et 8, and the American Legion, and was past commander. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, and a good country song. Bernie loved his family, especially his wife of 64 years, Geri. He took pleasure in visiting with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife, Geri Franklin, of Olney; daughter, Sherry Baltzell and husband Sonny,of Avon Park, Fla.; son, Doug Franklin and wife Sandy, of Olney; daughter, Pam Taylor and husband Bill, of Olney; daughter, Denise Rall and husband George, of New Albany, Ind.; grandchildren, Shannon Harrison, Scott (Crystal) Harrison, Courtney (Justin) Franklin-Morr, Nathan (Erin) Franklin, Jason "JT" (Amy) Taylor, Shawn (Megan) Taylor, Heather (Dustin) Taylor-Thomas, Jeremy (Kathleen) Tucker, and Messina (Jeff Hawkins, fiancé) Tucker; great-grandchildren, Ashly, Tyler, Gracie Anna, Avery, Parker, Reeve, Asher, Jacob, Kiley, Layne, Reid, Mackenzi, Braxtin, Jayden, and Katelyn; and great-great-grandchild, Brayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.
