Sterl Wayne Keen - Class Of 1945

Sterl Wayne Keen

Sterl Wayne Keen, 90, of Olney, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at his residence.  Sterl was born on April 29, 1928 in Lawrence Co., IL, the son of Orbel Newton and Evalyn Everett (Johnson) Keen.  He married Mildred Maxine (Warren) on August 29, 1947 in Olney, IL and she survives.

Sterl was known as a tireless worker.  He provided the area with automotive service for nearly fifty years.  Sterl provided many of the youth of the area auto related employment.  He was always ready to help someone who needed a helping hand.  After retirement, he directed his energy toward the work of the Lord, helping all he could with projects of the Mt. Gilead Church.

Sterl is survived by his wife of 71 years, Maxine Keen of Olney, IL; son, Steve  Keen and wife, Shirley of Olney, IL; daughter, Mitzi Pitts and husband, Larry of Olney, IL; grandchildren, Carrie Bielecki and Eric; Timothy Leaf and Michelle; Cody Keen and Megan; Stacey Myers and Bill; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lavaun Headlee, brother, Donnell Keen, and one grandson, Steven Wayne Keen.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2019, at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Park.

Rodney Cook (1959)

HE WAS A GREAT FRIEND AND BOSS 4 MANY YEARS.YOU COULD ASK HIM FOR ANY HELP AND HE GAVE HIS BEST.WHEN I WAS A YOUNGER BOY STERL GAVE ME A JOB AT THE PURE STATION,I HELPED 4 A LONG TIME.LATER IN YEARS HE HIRED MES AT KEENS SHELL,I ALSO HELPED AT HIS LAUNDRY MATS.IM SORRY I DIDN'T HE HAD PASSED AWAY.YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART AND I WILL MISS YOU.YOUR FRIEND NOW AND FOREVER.ROD.
