Jack G. Jones

Jack Gilbert Jones was born January 17, 1920, in Olney, Ill., and passed Monday, May 14, 2012, in Pagosa Springs, Colo., at the age of 92. He was the second of nine children.

Jack is survived by his wife, Eleanor Jones; his daughter, Rebecca Sibley; son-in-law, Rick Sibley; granddaughter, Jane Sliva; great-grandson, Tommy Brockington; four brothers; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald R. Jones.

Jack served in France in World War II. After the war, he married his sweetheart, Eleanor, in 1944. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars for 75 years.

Jack and Eleanor lived in Olney, Ill., until 1994, where they owned and ran The Town Talk restaurant. After 35 years in the restaurant business, he retired and got into the business of leasing land in the oilfields. In Olney, they were active members of Immanuel United Methodist Church.

In 1994, the Joneses moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo., to live with their daughter and son-in-law. In 1995, they began wintering in the warmer climate of Mesa, Ariz. In Pagosa, they joined and attended Community United Methodist Church. Since 1995, they split their time between Mesa and Pagosa Springs, where Jack enjoyed fishing, golf, picnicking, lunch at the Senior Center and the company of their many friends and family members.
