Jack L. Bauman, 85, of Greenville, Texas died August 22, 2005 at Greencrest Manor.  Funeral services at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel in Greenville, Texas with Father Paul Weinberger officiating.

The son of James and Cora Lathrop Bauman, he was born March 26, 1920 in Berryville. He married Helen Jenner in Olney on July 11, 1989.

Mr. Bauman was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, where he was a machine gunner, 37 MM anti-tank, L Company, 3rd Infantry Division, 30th Regiment in the European Theatre of Operations, Italy, Africa, Sicily, France and Germany. He made eight amphibious landings, was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, Croix de Guerre, Presidential Citation and Unit Badge with Oak Leaf Cluster and served four years in Europe.

Mr. Bauman retired from Pure Oil Company and was a former owner of a Tru-Value Hardware Store in Olney.

He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church and attended St. Williams Catholic Church during his years in Greenville, Texas. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Bauman is survived by his wife, Helen Bauman of Greenville, Texas; a son, Bradley Bauman and his wife, Sebrina of Cleveland, Tenn.; a daughter, Janice York and her husband, Fred of Carbondale; a step-son, Michael H. Mehmert and his wife, Laura of Evergreen Colo.; a step-daughter, Ceil Langford and her husband, Lanny of Rockport, Tenn.; a brother, Joe Bauman and his wife, Donna of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jewell Bauman.
