Robert J. Rogers - Class Of 1968

Specialist 5 Robert J. Rogers was killed in Vietnam on Saturday February 6, 1971, according to word received by his mother, Carolyn G. Perkins of 932 E. Chestnut St., Olney.

According to the telegram received from the Adjutant General Department of the U.S. Army, Specialist Rogers was crew chief of a military aircraft on a military mission, when the aircraft crashed and burned.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Sullivan Rogers of Bowling Green, Ky.; his mother, Carolyn G. Perkins of Olney; a brother, Pvt. Richard E. Rogers of Ft. Lewis, Wash.; one brother at home, John Ervin Perkins, Jr.; three sisters all living at home, Bonita Carolyn Perkins, Connie Sue Perkins and Eugena Robin Perkins; grandparents, Robert and Eva Dean of Olney; and aunts and uncles.

He was born May 14, 1949 at Ephrata, Wash. and attended East Richland High School a short time. He was married May 3, 1969 in Bowling Green, Ky.

The body will be returned to the United States with interment in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky.
