Paul Nuding - Class Of 1932

Paul B. Nuding, 92, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Lincoln Manor.  Funeral services at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Military graveside rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard.

Mr. Nuding was born December 29, 1912 in Olney. He was the son of Walter Elijah and Carrie (Yonaka) Nuding. He married Irene Rost on March 14, 1936 in Olney. She preceded him in death in 2002 after 66 years of marriage.

Mr. Nuding served in the Army Air Corps with General Omar Bradley’s 9th Army from 1942 to 1944 as an anti-aircraft gunner during WWII. He worked in Tresslars stores in Olney and Mt. Vernon, Ind., eventually becoming manager, from 1928-1959, when he and his wife moved to Decatur. He then worked at Bachman, Inc. and the YMCA. Mr. Nuding was a member of American Legion Post 105 for over 50 years. He was an avid Cubs Fan. Surviving are his nieces; Mary Ann Carson and husband Don of Oregon, Barb Swaney of Covington, IN., Carol Counts and husband Byron, sister-in-law Myrtle Richard both of Mokena, IL. nephew Doug Richard of Collinsville, IL, 4 great nieces, 3 great nephews, 3 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew.

Mr. Nuding was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
