Ernest Powell - Class Of 1932

Ernest A. Powell, 85, of Palm Bay, Florida, formerly of Olney died Friday June 4, 1999 at Homes Regional Medical Center in Palm Bay, Florida.

Graveside committal services  for the cremated remains at Haven Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Charles McDonald officiating. Full military rites rendered by Olney veteran organizations.

Mr. Powell was born November 5, 1913 in Olney, the son of Levi J. and Katie B. (Boye) Powell. He married Thelma Pebbie almost 60 years ago. She survives.

He was a retired Navy Chief musician (MUSI US NAVY WW II KOREA)  and a retired school teacher. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 4536, Richland Post #30 American Legion and the Fleet Reserve Association. He spent many hours each week as a Red Cross Volunteer at Patrick Air Force Base Pharmacy, and he worked with Meals on Wheels for many years.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, Thelma Powell of Palm Bay, Florida; two sons, James Powell of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gary Powell of Melbourne, Florida; one daughter, Kay Larson of Melbourne, Florida; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ira Powell and two sisters, Mabel McKinney and Garnett Streitz.
