Dorothea Fern Dean, 63, Decatur and formerly of Olney, died in Decatur Memorial Hospital on Saturday, August 1980.  Services at the Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home in Decatur. The body was donated to medical science.

She was born in Olney to Rolla and Gertrude Dean.

She was honored for 25 years service in the Macon County Council of Exceptional Children. She received the Bronze Star during World War II when she was an army nurse, and was a member of the Illinois Association of School Nurses.

She is survived by four brothers, Robert and George Dean, both of Olney, Frank Dean, Robinson and James Dean, Country Club Hills, Ill.; a sister, Mary Ella Salisbury, Olney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
