Roger Lee Taylor - Class Of 1935

Roger L. Taylor, 90, of Olney, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.  Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral with Rev. Scott Carlson officiating. Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Garden in rural Claremont. Full military rites will be conducted by the Olney Veterans Organizations.

Mr. Taylor was born June 11, 1916, in Claremont, the son of Harry Wallace and Blanche (Colwell) Taylor. He never married.

He was the general manager of Prairie Farms in Olney for 57 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney.

His life-long friend and companion, Lois VanBuskirk, died earlier this week.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his brother, Ralph Taylor and his wife, Verna, of Olney; nephew, Edward Taylor and his wife, Doris, of Olney; nieces, Jane Holmes and her husband, Mike, of Panama City, Fla., and Helen Lape and her husband, Harry, of Richmond, Va.; nephews, Carl Taylor and his wife, Frane, of St. Peters, Mo., George Taylor and his wife, JoAnn, of Union, Mo., and Frank Taylor, of Florissant, Mo.; great-nieces, Sarah Holt and her husband, Marty, of Olney, and Tiffany Akers, of Olney; and great-nephew, Jeffrey Taylor, of Olney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and nephew, Jeffrey.
