Hubert H. Mattoon

Hubert H. Mattoon, 88, of Normal died Saturday February 25, 2006 at BroMenn Healthcare in Normal.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Scott Carlson officiating. Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont with full military rites.

Mr. Mattoon was born on August 30, 1917 in Richland County, the son of Ora and Carrie (Vail) Mattoon. He was a retired music teacher. He received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and a master's degree from Illinois Wesylan University in Normal.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Illinois Farm Bureau and Illinois Retired Teachers Assoc. He was a U.S. Army S Sgt in W W II.

Mr. Mattoon is survived by his first wife, Eloise (Piper) Mattoon, of Mattoon; their daughters, Joanne Roach and her husband, Doyle of Charleston and Elaine Brutlag and her husband, Richard P. of Mattoon; his wife, Naomi (Eastes) Mattoon of Normal; her daughter, Margaret Krutemeier and her husband, Don of Heyworth; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; and one step-daughter, Alice Soto.
