Roe Street

Roe G. Street, 59, 119 N. Camp Ave. died Saturday, October 6, 1979 while combining beans in southeast Olney.  Funeral services in Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Gibbs presiding. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

He was born in Richland County on December 19, 1919, son of Ira and Caroline (Bauman) Street. He married Leona G. Diel on December 21, 1940.

Besides his wife, Leona, Mr. Street is survived by two sons, Dr. Robert Street, Marshall, Mich. and Dr. Gary Street, Olney; a daughter, Sharon Tucker, Olney; a brother, Beauford, Haines City, Fla.; three grandchildren; several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

Mr. Street was retired and had been a rural letter carrier for the Olney Post Office for 30 years. He was a member of the West Main St. Congregational Christian Church and served as superintendent of the church, and as deacon and elder. He was involved in many other church activities. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and was cited twice for bravery in action in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and received two bronze stars with oak leaf clusters.
