James R. Whitaker, 92, of Olney died Sunday March 4, 2007 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney with full military rites by the Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Whitaker was born July 16, 1914 in Etna Green, Ind. the son of Frank and Alice (Bell) Whitaker. He married Clarabel Kimmel on July 16, 1939 in St. Louis. She survives.

He was a former teacher and retired letter carrier. He owned and operated Whitaker's Record Shop in Olney. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney and was a 50-year member of American Legion and Olney Elks.

Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife, Clarabel Whitaker of Olney; nephews, Melvin Kimmel and wife, Mary Lou of Olney, Wayne Kimmel and wife, Bridget of Vincennes, Ind., Roger Kimmel and wife, Kris of Noble, David Kimmel and wife, Colleen of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Larry Kimmel of Oregon; niece, Judy Dobson of Noble.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
