Thomas Coan - Class Of 1946

Thomas B. Coan, 68, of the Wendelin community, died Friday June 10, 1994 at the St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.  Burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Olney Veterans Organizations.

Memorials to American Heart Association or Cardiac Care Unit of St. Francis Hospital.

Coan was born February 8, 1926 in Richland County, the son of Charles and Caroline (Diesser) Coan. He married Elizabeth Kessler June 17, 1948.

He was a retired state policeman for 27 years. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. He was a World War II U.S. Air Corps veteran and also a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police and Retired State Police Association of Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, of Wendelin community; five sons, Thomas B. Coan Jr. of U.S.M.C., Okinawa, Glen Coan and his wife, Linda of Olney, Charlie Coan and his wife, Marybeth of Newton, Joseph Coan and his wife, Kathleen of Charlestown, Ind. and Daniel J. Coan and his wife, Pam of Olney; a daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Cindy) Huchel of Olney; two brothers, Jim Coan of Hazelwood, Mo. and Bill Coan of Bridgeton, Mo.; a sister, Mary Rudolphi of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Coan was preceded in death by his parents.
