Jack E. Provines

Jack E. Provines, 82, of Olney, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont with full military rites performed by Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Provines was bon July 28, 1927, in Olney, the son of Percy R. and Helen Louise (Clark) Provines. He married May Jo Ammerman on September 15, 1946. She survives.

He owned and operated Provines House of Interiors with his wife, Jo. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Olney.

He loved his church. He was a member of the Sunday school class, Senior Pioneers, Wednesday night Bible study, and other activities at the church. He loved the furniture business. He started working at 15 for Abegglen Furniture Store and eventually owned Provines House of Interiors for many years. He was Past President of Kiwanis Club, member of Richland Country Club, Chamber of Commerce and various business organizations. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed golf and Cardinals baseball.

Mr. Provines is survived by his wife, Jo Provines, of Olney; son, Michael J. Provines and his wife, Kristina, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; son, John S. Provines and good friend, Michelle, of Olney; son, Bradley J. Provines, of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren, Gretchen Cly, Michael J. Provines II, and Melissa and her husband, Tony McDaniel; three great-grandchildren, Davis, Griffin and Aiden Cly; and a great-granddaughter to be born in September, Sophia Isabella McDaniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy R. and Helen Louise Provines.
